Step 1 :: Outset Meeting
We'll listen and learn to get a first-hand understanding of your company in it's industrial environment before evaluating your existing Health, Safety and Environment systems against relevant Statutory requirements.
We'll demonstrate how your company interfaces with the SPM Scheme and show how it addresses your specific compliance risk including, where applicable, across multiple disciplines and locations then we'll draw up your scheme in outline and arrange a convenient time for your baseline audit.
Step 2 :: Baseline Audit & Analysis
We'll measure how you address your firm's compliance with all relevant Statutory and Legislative requirements including the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
This baseline audit provides a gap analysis on your compliance performance, identifies key risk areas and signals appropriate corrective action as required. Our analysis will identify the extent of your company's compliance with relevant Statutory and Legislative issues.
Your results, from each of twelve key compliance tests, will be presented qualitatively and graphically, illustrating performance comparisons between your firm's current Statutory compliance status against the Regulations and best sector practice.
Step 3 :: Report
Your SPM audit results and recommendations will be formally presented and discussed with your Scheme Sponsor (MD/CEO) and Scheme Administrator (your company's in-house H&S officer) for concurrence and approval.
From this, working with your Scheme Administrator, we'll construct your customised SPM scheme, which comprises a programme of weekly, monthly and annual activities, each appropriate to your firm, providing you with support and assistance to address and maintain your Statutory compliance.
Step 4 :: Scheme Installation
Within a few days of delivering your SPM baseline audit report, we'll bottom-out the corrective actions required to resolve issues revealed in the audit and infill the gaps to bring your organisation on track.
Your SPM Assessor will build the detail into your company scheme, which will provide a weekly programme of activities. In all up to 200, to be performed across the year.
On completion, we'll carry out training before initiating access to your scheme through the member's portal on the SPM website. This gives you access on three secure levels allowing you to download your SPM activity plan and scheme documents. From hereon you can view your on-going whole-enterprise compliance status in detail and obtain expert assistance and support via the SPM members portal.
Step 5 :: Training
As part of the SPM installation process, we'll train your first-line team in all aspects of the scheme's operation. We'll also train your trainer, allowing you to cascade awareness and understanding through the organisation.
Training Aspects covered:
- SPM Application and Process
- Administering the SPM Scheme
- Addressing Business Considerations
- SPM Activity and Reporting Methods
- SPM Web Access and Operation
- SPM Self-audit and Review Practice
Step 6 :: Scheme in Progress
Ownership of each devolved activity involves an employee. Audit instructions are incorporated into the SPM activity sheet along with referenced guidance and measurable objectives.
Each activity outcome is reported formally by it's "owner" on the activity sheet along with recorded observations.
The activity sheet is then returned to your Scheme Administrator for analysis and upload to your SPM scheme.
Your activity completion status is compiled weekly and summarised on your SPM QuikStatus™ report and available to your MD and H&S representative to action as required.
Step 7 :: Scheme Illustration
SPM's QuikStatus™ report gives you a clear, whole-enterprise view of your current safe working condition, alerting you precisely to where your safety issues lie, allowing you to drill down ot individual departments or business units.
Step 8 :: Annual Audit
Each year, on the anniversary of your SPM Scheme implementation, your local SPM Assessor will visit you and carry out a formal review of your Scheme to assess Scheme performance issues aligned to your current range of activities.
The audit comprises:
- The operational aspects of your Scheme and review of your current and outstanding scheme activities at the year end
- Measuring the adequacy of your Scheme and identifying improvements
- Issuing an audit report and evaluation against the previous year
On completion, we'll update and re-set your SPM Scheme for the coming year.
